This blog is a chaser to the Cruelty-Free and Vegan Beauty blog from August. It’s an unabridged 360 degree run-through of the vegan make-up brands we know and love that are available in the UK. Of course not all cruelty-free brands are necessarily vegan, so you will have to scour through some ingredients lists on the brands we’ve included that aren’t entirely vegan. This directory has been made with the help of all the lovely people on Twitter’s weekly #veganhour chat, and all of those fantastic vegan beauty bloggers out there doing sterling work. If we’ve missed any brands out, do leave a comment so we can enrich our list with more top class make-up brands. If you’ve discovered a new company and you want to check out their credentials, PETA have a very handy list of all the companies who are cruelty-free and vegan (although it isn’t comprehensive), and a list of animal-derived ingredients to look out for.
Lily Lolo | Cruelty-free, PETA-approved, 95% Vegan Friendly, £
This mineral make-up brand steers clear of parabens and synthetic perfumes, so they’ll work with your skin without clogging it up. Their lip glosses, eye brow pencils and lipsticks all contain beeswax, and some of their shades contain carmine and lanolin. There are still plenty of mascaras, bronzers, brushes, shadows, foundations and blushers that are bona fide vegan friendly to choose from. Plus they’re ever so reasonably priced. Ideal!
Eyes Lips Face | Cruelty-free, PETA-approved, Vegan, £
All the beeswax and lanolin has been replaced with a synthetic substitute, so you can flick through their make-up pages with total browsing freedom. And oh my, look at that wallet-friendly price!
B from Superdrug | Cruelty-free, Vegan, £
Superdrug’s new brand of cosmetics and skincare is B, and it’s available on high streets up and down the country! This brand is a great success for vegan beauty, bringing it more into the mainstream.
Barry M | Cruelty-free, £
Barry M are proud champions of cruelty-free beauty, and to make it easier for vegans, they’ve marked all their vegan friendly products with a big shiny green label. These guys also work with animal protection charities like Humane Society International and FOUR PAWS. Sweet!

Loving this brand. They’ve thought of it all: the environment, ethics and quality. Heck, they’ve even won 6 awards! Highly recommended indeed.
Vegan Faces | Cruelty-free, Vegan Society Registered, Vegan, £
This lovely company primarily sells face paint, but if you’re going for a more subtle look, best to stick to their cosmetics range. They use the finest natural ingredients and the cosmetics range even includes a sun protection factor of 15! Bravo.
Green People | Cruelty-free, Certified Organic, ££
The helpful customer service people told me that some of their make-up products to include beeswax, but luckily they have all their ingredients listed online so it just requires a bit of searching around.
Beauty Without Cruelty | Cruelty-free, Vegan Society Registered, Vegan £
These cute cosmetics are fragrance free and are made using natural pure ingredients. Loving their bright bold colours. What hue do you dare to go for?
Illamasqua | Cruelty-free, ££
Whilst not all of their products are fully vegan, they are currently researching for alternative ingredients to animal-derived ones at the moment. Their brushes are made with synthetic hair, so soon this brand could be totally vegan friendly. In the meantime though, do get in touch with customer services to double check specific products. They have confirmed that their Skin Base Foundation, Sealing Gel, nail varnishes, Freak Fragrance and Hydra Veil are absolutely suitable for vegans too.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics | Cruelty-free, Vegan, £
This US company is totally committed to ensuring there are zero animal derived ingredients, nor are the products or their raw materials tested on animals. You can buy them in the UK at Beauty Bay.
Concrete Minerals | Cruelty-free, PETA-approved, Vegan, £
These cosmetics are blissfully 100% vegan and very cheap to boot!
